At this year’s Pitti Fragranze 2025 in Florence, Armenian perfumer Tsovak Voskanian unveiled his latest creation: Monstre Noir. Known for his bold and conceptual approach, Voskanian once again challenged the conventions of niche perfumery with a fragrance that feels as enigmatic as its name.

Monstre Noir belongs to the fougère family, yet it twists the familiar codes into something far more unconventional. Instead of the expected herbal freshness, the composition reveals smoky, metallic, and mineral facets layered over a deep woody base. The result is a fragrance with a strong, shadowy character-complex, textured, and unapologetically different.

The atmosphere it creates is urban and raw, with hints of industrial edges softened by earthy undertones. It is not designed to please everyone, nor to follow trends. Rather, it speaks to those who view perfume as an art form, an emotional statement, and a way of carrying stories on the skin.

With Monstre Noir, Voskanian reaffirms his position as one of the most distinctive voices in independent perfumery. This launch at Pitti Fragranze was more than just a presentation of a new scent-it was a reminder that perfumery can be as provocative, daring, and poetic as any other form of contemporary art.
