Odor 93: a fragrant hero’s journey

If we want to make green paint, we mix blue and yellow. We do the same for purple, with red and blue paint. We can enlighten our mix by adding white or darken it by adding black paint.

That’s the only way we have to give an external representation of our inner world. To do this, we’ll use green paint for leaves and red for blood. It’s an artificial representation of reality through natural raw materials, or nature painting herself.

I guess how can we create a new color that no one has ever seen before. Something so impressive that might shock our mind.

We can’t create this using natural pigments because them, combined, will for sure create a color we have already seen in nature.

That’s the same thing for scents. We cannot create fragrances that don’t belong to nature in any way. Even aroma chemicals come out of nature, cause they’re made using chemical elements extracted from nature.

Creating a new smell is a tough challenge for fragrance creators.

At this point, you’d be thinking “Isn’t this their job? Fragrance creators create new smells”.

I obviously agree with your point, but they cannot create a scent that runs away of physics and nature laws.

Meo Fusciuni embraces this challenge, creating a new smell instead of an ordinary fragrance with an olfactory evolution.

We’re all used to fragrances that tell stories using fragrant raw materials, and those are fragrances that follow the hero’s journey. A story with a main character that has to leave his hometown to fight for his loved ones. He’s strong willed and full of hope. Those emotions are reflected in the fresh and sparkling top notes of a fragrance, hooking our senses in a few seconds.

Going through the fragrance evolution, our hero encounters a major obstacle that makes him question his values. He’s got to mould himself and his own values to overcome the obstacles on his way.

That’s the most important part of the story, and the longest lasting, it’s the fragrance’s heart, where the hero defeats the dragon and brings back peace in his hometown.

This everlasting peace is symbolized by the soft and smooth base notes, a peaceful state of mind achieved at the end of the battle against the dragon.

To create Odor 93, Meo Fusciuni becomes the hero of this story, facing the challenge of creating a new smell, like a color coming from space.

His weapons are tuberose, woody absolutes and daffodil’s decadent charm. He uses these terrestrial raw materials to tingle our nose with a transcendental smell, a smell we can only understand through similarities with natural scents that we already know. Our sensations on this fragrance can only uncover parts of its formula, leaving a good part of our experience to the contemplation of Odor 93’s mysterious aura.
