The fullness of a decade passes by in an instant, lives are altered, evolving and morphing into new shapes, Gardelia in its freshly clothed incarnation, ten years on, is the knowing nod to not only the masterstrokes of Perfumer Antonio Gardoni, his sensibilities finely honed to a blades edge, but also to two lives devoted to each other beyond passing and the continuity of passions. Created within the partnership of Lia Lo Brutto of Sacro Cuore Profumeria, Bologna and Antonio Gardoni, Perfumer, Bogue Profumo, the 2025 incarnation of Gardelia pays homage to the original 2015 release but contains within the still strong devotion that Lia Lo Brutto carries, after his passing, for her love and partner for so many years Giovanni Padovan.

The original 2015 release was a project between them to celebrate 50 years of their love and joint passion, 50 years of the Sacro Cuore Profumeria Project and 50 years of Perfume, Antonio Gardoni created a masterpiece containing 50 components.

Some perfumes as soon as they are in proximity to skin, cry out noiselessly for connection, a soundless yearning that pulls across the space in-between. Gardelia 2025 is one such creation, the classicism of its previous embodiment enlivened with a vision unocculded, modern and elegant. Illuminated and lighter, in Gardelia 2025, Gardenia, that seductive flower, becomes under Antonios hands and the attendant florals of Ylang Ylang, Rose and Osmanthus, a multifaceted sensual riven beauty, the touch of beauty that brings you to your knees in reverence, weeping in a joy so pure, as if drawn from the very source, unadulterated. Eyes opened, filters lifted, Gardenia, not as you knew her, in this company she is laid bare, revealing her very core, an addictive sublime essence. This is all of her in entirety. Every portion in minute detail, the swelling green tinged bud, the unfurling delicacy, the silken textures of scent in a tentative twilight, the full-blown exuberance, a narcotic intoxication. A binding caress of hushed reminiscences and silent promises. Linear conceptions vanish once invited in, past, present and future dissolve, the pages of the past are enfolded, leaf upon leaf within, embraced in a present moment like an inhalation of a life and then sent forth on the winds of the future, fluttering amongst the perfumed airs.

A refinement has occurred and she has emerged, confident, more brightly lit from within the pleats of the formula, in Bergamot and Yuzu hues, yet still cradling memory close within the weave of her fabric. The suffusive warmth that rises off a lover’s skin, deftly woven benzoin, a brazier which gently ignites the fecundity of patchouli and the silken traces of velvety sandalwood, intoning into the soft plumes of my flesh.

Gardelia 2025, Extrait de Parfum, winds itself deftly about my form, in this rising off flesh, emitting wafts of the multitude of her parts, always evolving as a complete entity, nothing dominates, enveloping in a beautifully orchestrated score, interleaved to emerge at the genius point of harmony.

An enigma, it scents the air in a rarefied, almost untouchable beauty, the kind mere mortals often miss, yet it is profoundly human, when we are intimate and enclosed with the other, lighting upon the possibility that lies within our shrouds of distractions, it is the glimpse of a rare thing. Here is an ode to passion, lifetimes of it, to devotion between two humans unassailed by times roughened hands and to beauty, real beauty, the sustaining force. An encounter beyond the periphery of perception, a gaze into a perfumed soul of nature, resplendent and magnificent.
