It requires a rare, exquisite and devotional understanding of raw materials to create little masterpieces that reverberate outwards far from their point of origin and leave masses trembling in their wake. Perfumer Pierre Bénard Sègu of Oz Parfums has achieved this, the drawing together of the strands of his life, his passions, his expertise, his adoration of Tuberose and supreme intuition have gifted us a soliflore inspired piece of Perfumery Art in Lilith - Sombre Heroine.
A unique talent in a world awash with mediocrity, he dares to give us cause to pause, to be halted by the a rushing inhale of piercing beauty, tenacious and fearless he strips away thousands of years of denial and shows us the Her, the essence of that which has been hidden for so long.
Here a twofold path is opened before us, a sublime flower yielding up her very essence and the unveiling, finally of Lilith, she who is all Women. In all of nature there lies waiting for certain individuals, the entire possibilities in their hands and living raw components ready to bare all, a soul illuminated, the whole and unabridged story. Here, at last is Lilith returned as she always was, an unspoken history given voice, not just one constructed story, not one face but a mulitude, merging into a true vision. Like all women, not just one face, or one chord struck but undulating, shapeshifting tales, a glimpse of truth beyond fictional interpretations and mistaken histories that have drifted on time. The remedy for all those misrepresentations.

Tuberose, that luminous and addictive lure, pale, cold petals, silvery, shot through with moonlight, trails of allure , narcotic drifts that seduce and somnify. All flowers, it seems to me are naturally flirtatious, deceivers to our human senses, they distract, beguile with myriad morphology that catches our thirst for beauty, yet they tell only a part of their story, withold from our perceptions and share only portions of a secret kept hidden deeply within, showing us only what they think we can perceive and handle.
Perhaps our past impressions of Tuberose have been familiar and relatively mildly packaged to not completely overturn us. But overturned we must be, to see what lies beyond her waxen, lunar petals? She has invited Pierre across her threshold, across the known interior, beyond known landmarks and revealed herself to him, he in turm has patiently danced with her, here is a metaphor for any woman that invites a voyager into an intimate embrace, it is that Holy. Lilith shows us all, male and female just precisely what sacred is, the power of a woman, the strength in grace and independant dance out on the edges of liminal spaces, the in-between pulse of the worlds rim.

That first inhale of Lilith is to be swept in paroxysm’s of measured ecstacy, an untamed overdose of Tuberose to entice further , how far do you dare to travel? Posing the question, can you look into the eyes of mystery and be subsumed. Fires like this rarely leave survivors, something is forever altered, I am sundered in her presence, a homecoming, an intense initiation that leaves my disguise pared away. Lilith, swathed as she is in unadultered form, about her a sacred trinity of Ylang Ylang, Jasmine and Narcissus, I am swept away and stand in front of her mirror, tracing the outlines of who I always was in her scented mirages. To voyage with her as her inensity softens into my skin, her exhaling draught drawing shivers of recognition

Elixir borne traces of her presence linger long, time draws out in tendriled heartbeats, intoxication yields to seduction, lulling us into a surrendered embrace, Sandalwood laced with Benzoin, Amber and Musk, wraith-like, becomes my underskin, she embraces my newborn thing to her, gold infused blood in its veins, a life-force apart.
‘The Fall is not the end but a new Landfall’
Lilith, pushed to the limits of existence by a narrative under control, scoured with an image, few, dared to bring her to light, to witness her power, she resided at the edges of time, veiled yet present, breathing into the waiting, in this perfume she emerges into cogniscence, powerful, beautiful and returning to her own.
Her time is returning, the heralding sits beneath my flesh as interwoven as sinew. A bold individual can rewrite an entrenched herstory in a single bottle, a true revelation.
Tuberose is my emblem.
I fell madly in love with it.
For the perfumer that I am,
She represents all flowers.
And for the man that I am,
She represents all women.” – Pierre Bénard Ségu
